IPC is the distribution arm of Subway Restaurants North America, and we are doing things differently with our partner and choice of Data Governance tooling.   We started off to build the framework for a Business Data Catalog based on the Semarchy Sales Demo Governance Model.    We chose Semarchy xDM to be our platform to develop our Data Management and Governance solution, and have been very happy to date with the first of 3 core features we are leveraging.  We will be moving into collecting and evaluating data quality metrics in our upcoming enhancement, and finally replace our legacy MDM, PIM and Customer/Vendor Master Data Integration Management tools.

Would there be any other organizations in the community interested in getting the ability to connect and understand the NoSQL columnar databases now used in the cloud, such as Redshift and SnowFlake as future enhancements to the Discovery Feature, and reverse-engineering feature of the tool so as to address more Data Governance and Management challenges ?

An Ideal and future scenario I would like to see is this ability, in one tool, to address all the Data Governance Management and Data Asset content of an organization from a single tool.

Using one of the Business Data Analysts fully  trained to use our application, I would like them to be able tto show an executive how wonderful Semarchy xDM is.  The demonstration would be:  Executive 1 asks DA 1 a business data question; DA1  searches semarchy for what he asked for in the search" DA 1 finds where it was defined and a link to a data set if that data already had a data set built, and skip over to the dashboard and quickly put together a view against that data - or use the link to an existing report in our Tableau framework to show the same thing  - or if there is some data in a data source but not in a data set, start a data set request workflow to request this information to be added to an existing data set, or a new data set created to support this Executive request.    That would also assume that it might be possible to create a simple dashboard directly against the data, rather than against the metadata in the Postgres, SQL Server or Oracle metadata repository that are currently supported, as none of these 3 data base engines directly hold the information content.
